MESCALERO, N.M. (March 28, 2016) – Inn of the Mountain Gods Championship Golf Course opened on Friday, March 25 for the season. As part of the award-winning four-season resort and casino, the Championship Golf Course is a magnificent destination both for golfers and those simply hoping to get away from it all.
Golfers can hit the links on this Ted Robinson designed course which ranks as the No. 3 “Best Courses You Can Play” in New Mexico by Golfweek.
Since it first appeared on the list of the 50 “Best Casino Courses” in the United States by Golfweek in 2007, Inn of the Mountain Gods Championship Golf Course has consistently been rated among the best in the nation for its spectacular scenery and fast breaking greens. Located in the Sacramento Mountains of the Southern Rockies, the 7,206-yard course is surrounded not only by forest and high desert terrain, but also by the resort’s spring-fed Lake Mescalero, demanding skill and accuracy from golfers aiming to stay in regulation.
The 18-hole Championship Course is known for creative and challenging sand and water hazards such as the No. 10 island fairway. The course features meticulously manicured bluegrass fairways and bentgrass greens, making it ideal for competitive play. Robinson, designer of acclaimed courses both nationally and abroad, took advantage of the resort’s natural surroundings, allowing for wide open fairways that narrow near the greens. Nestled in the canyons of the surrounding Sierra Blanca, the Championship Course sits at an incredible 7,000 feet, helping balls fly nearly 10 percent farther than at lower elevations.
Inn of the Mountain Gods Championship Course offers as low as $40 weekday rates and $45 weekend rates for hotel guests, while non-guests can play a round for as low as $50 on weekdays and $55 on weekends in March. Tee times are available from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily in March. Closed for aerating April 4-6 then open 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily starting April 8. The Spring Golf Package is available Sunday-Thursday April 3 – May 26 includes a one-night stay in a standard room, breakfast at Apache Tee, two Inn margaritas, two rounds of golf and one golf gift, starting at only $189 plus tax and resort fee.
