Mescalero, N.M. (Feb. 21, 2019)—The whole family is invited to Inn of the Mountain Gods for Dr. Seuss Day on Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. with breakfast served from 9 to 10 a.m.
National Education Association’s Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2; Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books. Dr. Seuss Day at Inn of the Mountain Gods will focus on culture and diversity this year.
Reading time and activities will be built around the following books:
- Danza by Duncan Tonatiuh
- Same, Same But Different by Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw
- A Different Pond by Bao Phi
- Malala’s Magic Pencil by Malala Yousafzai
- Island Born by Junot Diaz
- My Coyote Nose and Ptarmigan Toes: An Almost-True Alaskan Adventure by Erin McKittrick
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or pillow to sit on during reading time. Tickets for Dr. Seuss Day are $10 and must be purchased in advance at ticketmaster.com. Parents must also purchase a ticket. No tickets will be available at the door.
