Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Facility Maintenance Director, incumbent operates, maintains, and repairs drinking water systems under the jurisdiction of the IMGR&C. Also responsible for the collection and submission of ALL required monitoring compliance, secondary, radiological, bacteriological, and other drinking water samples as to ensure each water system in compliance with Federal drink water regulations. Including, but not limited to , installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and upgrading of the liquid chlorine disinfection systems pertaining to each of the associated drinking water systems. Ensures that all drinking water provided for use is delivered and handled in accordance with all applicable Federal legislation and regulations.
Job Qualifications: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Professional certification, State of Federal, at Water Distribution Level II is required, with the capability and desire to obtain a Level III within one year of hire date; Will be required to attend training and workshops to maintain active, required certification; Must possess a VALID New Mexico State Driver’s License and be insurable under the IMGR&C motor vehicle insurance provider and their policies; Knowledge of Tribal, State and Federal laws relating to drinking water regulations and operations; Ability to demonstrate proficient writing, communication and public speaking skills; Must be highly self-motivated and be able to complete tasks without direct supervision; Must be able to handle various working conditions: exposure to sun, heat, cold, night and all weather conditions; Also exposure and direct contact with various water and wastewater treatment chemical, including, but not limited to chlorine-liquid and powdered forms; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow Team Members, other IMGR&C departments and governmental agencies.
Mescalero Apache Tribal Preference. Bi-cultural experience preferred.
