JANUARY ENTERTAINMENT, EVENTS AND PROMOTIONS

MESCALERO, N.M. (December 27, 2016)— Inn of the Mountain Gods is kicking off 2017 with performances from ‘80s rock stars Foghat on Jan. 20, as well as ‘90s country, stars Mark Chesnutt and Joe Diffie on Jan. 28. The New Year also brings brand new events and promotions.

Entertainment:
Terrain Park Competition Series at Ski Apache – Jan. 7, 9, 14 and 23
Ski Apache’s annual Terrain Park Competition returns this January for three preliminary competitions before the series finale on Monday, Jan. 23. Riders of all ages will have three runs to put together their best combo line before a winner is declared. Riders under the age of 12 can compete in the youth division for $10 while riders 13 and older can register for the big park division for $25 with the winner taking home the collective registration fee.

Foghat – Friday, Jan. 20
Although the band has seen the passing of two founding members, London’s Foghat has continued to tour and produce music throughout their 45-year career. Formed in 1971 by blues band Savoy Brown members, Foghat rapidly released eight albums within their first seven years together, garnering five Gold certifications and one platinum certification with their fifth album “Fool for the City” featuring their iconic single “Slow Ride.” Despite several band member changes, Foghat’s subsequent nine albums managed to retain the band’s signature blues-infused hard rock and harmonious slide guitars. Foghat takes the stage at Inn of the Mountain Gods on Friday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m.

Mark Chesnutt and Joe Diffie – Saturday, Jan. 28
Country stars Mark Chesnutt and Joe Diffie are set to share the stage for a one-of-a-kind show at Inn of the Mountain Gods on Saturday, Jan. 28. Best known for his 1999 cover of the Aerosmith classic “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” Chesnutt’s 28-year career has garnered 14 no. 1 hits, 23 top ten singles, five Gold records, and four Platinum albums, in addition, to praise from country music’s biggest entertainers such as George Strait. Oklahoma native Diffie saw his 1994 single “Pickup Man” sit at the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country chart for four weeks, the longest tenure of his 12 no. 1 singles.

Apache Star Races at Ski Apache – Every Saturday starting Jan. 7
Riders who are more interested in speed than steez will be happy to hear that the Apache Star Races are also set to open Saturday, Jan. 7, weather permitting. Located on Smokey Bear trail beneath the Gondola line, the racecourse challenges riders to zip between trees as they carve through race gates. Races will be timed, allowing racers to challenge their friends and themselves to complete the fastest run. Entry to the Apache Star Races can be purchased at the Special Services Window for $5 per race or a season race pass can be purchased for $25.

View Inn of the Mountain Gods and the beautiful Lake Mescalero like never before on the Apache Eagle ZipRider. Cash Is King – Jan. 1-27
Cash is King at Inn of the Mountain Gods this January with more than $45,000 up for grabs including the $25,000 grand prize. Throughout the month of January, Apache Spirit Club members who earn 50 points will earn one entry into the 9 p.m. drawing on Jan. 27 at Inn of the Mountain Gods where 12 players will be selected to play in the $45,000 slot tournament. Additionally, players earn 10 free entries every Tuesday and three times entries on Fridays.

High 5’s for 55’s Cash or Chance – Jan. 2-30
Apache Spirit Club members 55 and older have a chance to win up to $2,000 every Monday and Wednesday during Cash or Chance drawings. Players who earn 10 points will gain one entry into a drawing where 10 winners will be selected and given the choice between $100 cash or to pick a mystery prize with a chance to win up to $2,000 cash. Additionally, High 5’s for 55’s players receive five times point multipliers every Monday as well as 50 percent off dining at Gathering of Nations Buffet, Big Game Sports Bar or Casino Apache Travel Center’s Smokey B’s.

Snowflake Slot Tournament – Jan. 3-31
Stop by Casino Apache Travel Center between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. every Tuesday in January for a chance to win a share of $4,000 in Free Spirit Play during the Snowflake Slot Tournament. Apache Spirit Club members earn one free entry into the tournament with their initial swipe and can win additional entries for every 10 points earned. 

Loco 4 Locals Mega Multipliers – Jan. 5-26
It pays to be a local every Thursday at Inn of the Mountain Gods and Casino Apache Travel Center. Local Apache Spirit Club members who earn 20 points can swipe their club card for a chance to win up to ten times point multipliers from 8 a.m. to noon and 8 p.m. to midnight.

Dueling Dragons – Jan.7-29
Cash prizes of $1,500 will be up for grabs Sundays at 7 p.m. during Dueling Dragons drawings, starting Saturday, Jan. 7. Apache Spirit Club members will be given one entry into the weekly drawings for every 20 points earned between 8 p.m. and midnight on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 6:50 p.m. on Sundays. Two winners will be drawn every Sunday to draw cards for a chance to win up to $1,500. 

Locals Appreciation Days at Ski Apache – Jan.7-End of Season
Locals Appreciation Day kicks off Saturday, Jan. 7, where residents of Ruidoso, Alto Mescalero, Alamogordo, and Roswell can take advantage of exclusive discounts on beverages at Ski Apache’s Spirit Bar. Locals Appreciation Day is every Saturday during Spirit Bar hours of operation.

Pencils Down Tips Up at Ski Apache – Jan. 11-Feb.24
Skiing is more accessible than ever thanks to Ski Apache’s Pencils Down Tips Up school program, every Wednesday and Friday starting Jan. 11 through Feb. 24. Available to participating schools in Carrizozo, Alamogordo, Capitan, Mescalero, Tularosa, Roswell, Cloudcroft and Ruidoso, Pencils Down Tips Up offers extreme discounts for students and parents alike. Students enrolled at participating schools can take advantage of $3 tickets and lessons as well as $5 rentals at the Ski Apache Ski and Snowboard Rental Shops and participating local shops while up to two accompanying adults can enjoy $11 lift tickets.

Honor Our Soldiers Stars, Stripes and Blizzards of Bonus Points – Thursday, Jan. 19
Honor Our Soldiers Apache Spirit Club members can win up to 50,000 bonus points from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 at Inn of the Mountains and Casino Apache Travel Center. Club members who earn 10 points can simply swipe the club card for their shot at 50,000 bonus points.

Ice Cold Cash – Jan. 3-26
Apache Spirit Club blackjack players have a chance to win their share of more than $5,000 every Thursday at Casino Apache Travel Center this January at 5:30 p.m. Players will earn entries into the weekly drawing from 9 a.m. to 5:29 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for each blackjack they are dealt. Drawings will be held every Thursday at 5;30 p.m. to determine who wins a share of the more than $5,000 prize pool.

Bingo Grand Opening – Friday, Jan. 27
Daily bingo is back at Inn of the Mountain Gods starting Friday, Jan. 27 at 12 p.m. Three hour-long bingo sessions will be available seven days a week from noon to 1 p.m., 2 to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visit InnoftheMountainGods.com for details.
