MUSICAL LEGENDS TO PLAY AT INN OF THE MOUNTAIN GODS IN NOVEMBER

MESCALERO, N.M. (October 26, 2016)— A bevy of legendary musicians are on their way to Inn of the Mountain Gods this November, as John Anderson with Ben and Noel Haggard & The Strangers take the stage on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. and Little River Band performs Saturday, Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.

Raised on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, George Jones and Merle Haggard in Central Florida, John Anderson moved to Nashville, Tennessee when he was 17 to pursue a career in country music. Six years of working odd jobs and performing in clubs finally paid off in 1977 when Anderson signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records and landing his first song on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single “I’ve Got a Feelin’ (Somebody’s Been Stealin’).”

Over the next 39 years, Anderson would go on to produce 23 albums with 20 Top 10 singles including six No.1’s like “Wild and Blue,” “Swingin’” and “Straight Tequila Night.” Joining Anderson are Ben and Noel Haggard, sons of the late Merle Haggard, along with Merle’s old band The Strangers. Ben and Noel Haggard tour together, continuing their father’s legacy by singing his songs and playing the dates Merle had planned before his passing. The Haggard brothers have recently opened for Willie Nelson and have upcoming shows with Jamey Johnson and The Oak Ridge Boys.

What a ride it has been for Australia’s Little River Band, with numerous lineup changes, millions of records sold and a shout-out from none other than Will Ferrell in 2010’s “The Other Guys.” Little River Band formed as an Australian supergroup in 1975 with the hopes of breaking into the booming American rock scene. With the help of manager Glenn Wheatley, Little River Band broke into mainstream success in the U.S. with their third album “Diamantia Cocktail in 1977, landing two singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

Despite a staggering more than 30 lineup changes, Little River Band has found consistent success in their ensuing 31-year career. The group landed 10 singles in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart on top of becoming the first Australian band to receive gold or platinum certification from the RIAA when “Diamantina Cocktail” went Gold in 1978, followed by “Sleep Catcher” and “First Under the Wire achieving Platinum certification in 1979 and “Time Exposure” getting Gold certification in 1981.
