Nestled in Clean Mountain Air of Southwest

MESCALERO, N.M. (April 8, 2010) – Get out the golf clubs and head West for an early season golf getaway at New Mexico’s premier mountain resort, Inn of the Mountain Gods. Featuring an 18-hole Ted Robinson-designed layout, the Resort’s Championship Course recently earned a top spot on Golf Digest’s “Top 40 Casino Golf Courses” list and was also named the “most underrated golf course in the Southwest” by Travel and Leisure magazine. What’s more, is guests at the Inn can now book tee times up to three months in advance, while non-guests may make reservations two weeks in advance, making trip planning at the Four Diamond-rated Inn a breeze.

First opened in 1975, the Inn of the Mountain Gods’ Championship Course is nestled among the canyons of the Sierra Blanca mountain range at a daunting 7,000 feet, helping golf balls fly nearly 10 percent farther than at lower elevations. Robinson, designer of acclaimed courses world-wide including the Experience at Koele in Lanai, Hawaii, Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, Calif. and Pinx Golf Club on Cheju Island, Korea, took advantage of the course’s natural surroundings, spreading it out over 7,206 yards and offering up wide open fairways that narrow near the greens. Featuring meticulously manicured bluegrass fairways and bent grass greens, this par-72 hidden gem includes various water and sand hazards as well as practice putting greens for those who’d like to warm up before hitting the links. Previously, the course has been rated by Golf Digest as the 4th “Best Public Course” in New Mexico, as well as the 8th “Best in State” course.

“We take great pride in our offerings here at the Championship Course and we’re certain that any golf aficionado will be more than pleased with the golf experience found here at the Inn,” said Frizzell J. Frizzell Sr., course superintendant. “From our scrupulously-cared-for fairways to providing the most convenient tee times and top notch food and beverage service, our Championship course is truly that – an experience worthy of championship golfers.”

Inn of the Mountain Gods Golf Getaway packages are now available starting at just $219 per person (Sun.-Thurs.) and $239 (weekends) including a one-night stay, a round of golf for two with shared cart, choice of two full American breakfasts from room service or the Apache Tee restaurant, two famous Inn Margaritas at the Apache Tee restaurant or Wendell’s Lounge, and a welcome gift from the golf shop (blackout dates on hotel and golf apply; one offer per visit; may not be combined with other offers).

For those who seek comfort, adventure and a connection to the natural beauty of the Southwest, Inn of the Mountain Gods, five-time recipient of AAA’s Four Diamond rating for luxury, accommodations and service, is the ultimate locale for a relaxing getaway, family vacation, or top tier meeting, reunion or destination wedding. Located in Mescalero, N.M., near Ruidoso in the southwestern portion of the state, the Inn features luxury rooms and suites, exciting slots and table games, a ski resort, expansive meeting space and dozens of opportunities for outdoor recreation including fishing, hiking, biking and hunting.
